Just In!: Transfer: Chelsea Midfielder To Join Strasbourg On Loan

Chelsea’s young star Kendry Páez is set to spend next season on loan at French club Strasbourg, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 18-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder, considered one of the most exciting young talents in world football, will not be part of Chelsea’s squad for the upcoming Club World Cup. Instead, the club has decided to send him to Strasbourg for the 2025/26 season to gain valuable first-team experience.

This move is part of Chelsea’s long-term plan for Páez. The idea is for him to play regular minutes in Ligue 1, grow in a competitive environment, and then return to London in 2026 more prepared to fight for a spot in the Chelsea first team.

Despite not yet kicking a ball for Chelsea, fans have been keeping a close eye on Páez since his performances with Ecuador’s senior national team and his standout displays at youth level. The midfielder is known for his quick feet, vision, and creativity, traits that have earned him comparisons to top playmakers across Europe.

Strasbourg, part of the BlueCo multi-club model along with Chelsea, will provide a good stepping stone for Páez. The French side has already helped other young Chelsea players develop, and this loan is expected to be no different.

While some fans may be disappointed not to see Páez in blue just yet, the loan move is seen as a smart decision to help him grow without too much pressure too soon. He is likely to return from loan and compete with the likes of Fernandez and Palmer for the number 10 role.
